A useful trial answers a defined question. Discuss prototype parts and surface treatment with YTSAB before committing to a recurring production arrangement.
Set the purpose of the trial
Identify what needs to be assessed: appearance, fit, coating thickness, assembly function or a particular test requirement. Separate an exploratory sample from a trial intended to support production approval.
Provide representative parts and information
Send the drawing revision, material grade, manufacturing route and available quantity. Explain differences between the trial parts and the intended production parts. State which specimens may be used for testing and what documentation is needed.
Agree the scope
Confirm treatment, handling, masking, inspection and reporting for the specific trial. Identify tests performed by you or another party and how the results will be shared. Timing and price depend on the agreed arrangement.
Record the outcome
Document the properties assessed, remaining questions and responsible approver. Keep any reference sample with its material, article and revision details. Approval of appearance alone should not be described as full functional approval.
Carry the agreed requirements into production
Ensure the order, drawing and control plan describe the same finish. Raise material, geometry or specification changes before the next batch. Read our trial-to-production guide (Swedish) or discuss measurement and salt spray testing.
Discuss your component
Send the drawing revision, material grade, quantity, coating and inspection requirements.
